WYTA is committed to a certification of individual yoga therapists that is internationally recognized and respected by yoga therapy practitioners, educators and practitioners from other healthcare fields with whom yoga therapists work in partnership.
Establishing proper structure and process to provide this credential is most important aim of WYTA’s standards effort. WYTA Certification is the premier certification awarded to therapists/institutions that demonstrate high-quality services using evidence-based, guidelines-driven procedures.
WYTA Certification provides recognition to yoga therapists who meet or exceed an established set of standards. It is a quality control mechanism whereby through a credible, objective, peer review process a stamp of approval is given to professionally trained yoga therapists.
Certification shows a professional’s or organizations commitment to continuous performance improvement. Like accreditation, it provides the framework for improving the quality of services by reducing variation in the processes followed. Certification in general helps the wider community to have confidence, as the certified yoga therapists make an authentic contribution to holistic healing and integrative standards in healthcare.
All applicants for WYTA Certification must be current WYTA Members and must agree to the Code of Ethics and Grounds for Disciplinary Action, the Use of the Certification Credential, and review the scope of practice
WYTA Certification is currently open to all the WYTA members who are graduates of yoga therapy Programs. These graduates may apply for WYTA Certification anytime following completion of their Program.
